Origami Inspired!

So here is the green thing finished at last. I am open to any name suggestions. If you want to see this thing in all it’s glory then head over to my instagram page @DelicatebyLou and watch the slowmo video.

I did also make a miniature vase after my first insta poll said that I should 100% make it. I’ll have to make some very small flowers to go in it.

As I mentioned in my last post it is based off Tomoko Fuse’s little turtle, kusudama origami. Origami is such an amazing art form and inspires so much design through out the world.

Now this is based off an icosahedron like my baubles and a few of my other bead sculptures. it is an amazing for and can work as the base for so many things. It’s also a great form to experiment on before doing anything more complex.

My next one won’t be just triangles, I might even do something with spikes or a complex shape, we’ll just have to see.

Also on the board is a post about some cute little 2d patterns from a designer I like, The plan is to have 9 or ten of her patterns done to show off, and I’ve offered my friends and family earrings discounted to the price of a pattern, so I can get the patterns with out un-need spending. Hopefully I will get a few takers as they are great patterns and who doesn’t like cheap earrings, that will stand out in a crowd.

So far I have four patterns, two I’ve had for a while, one i brought because it had two baby dinosaur patterns and one taker on the cheap earrings.

On Saturday mum and I had a bonding day, even though I was grumpy as we started these cuties and truth to tell mum did most of the work on them. They are still WIP’s but look so damn cute, I had to share. Mum’s is the one on the left and mine the the very red one. I think mum plans to make two more, possibly for my brother and brother in-law. A whole family of reindeer.

well any who its getting late so I’ll leave it there.
